Mahogany runabout2/2/2024 The boat was refurbished in 2015 with a rebuilt 95hp Model K Hercules engine along with a new fiberglass bottom, new pigskin color upholstery, sides refastened with new stain and varnish on all wood. The boat was built using the finest Philippine mahogany and the graceful lines have made the “Barrel Back” a much-desired Chris Craft model for generations of wooden boat enthusiasts. Commonly referred to as a “Barrel Back” because the boat’s semi-circle transom looks like a floating barrel in the water when viewed from the stern. Chris Craft Deluxe Runabout, delivered to Seattle Washington in July of 1940., Chris Craft built only 425 17ft. The boat is kept in a covered boat house on Lake Dora, Tavares, FL and is available for inspection and a run around the lake.ġ940 17ft. Original Chrysler Hemi shop manuals, original propeller, rudder, mechanical fuel pump and copper fuel lines will go with the boat. New rudder (larger than original for more responsive steering at low speed). New aluminum fuel tank & sending unit with electric fuel pump and water separator. Instruments, carbs, generator, water pump and voltage regulator all rebuilt. Mahogany ceiling planks (replaced vinyl covered hardboard) and mahogany dash (replaced vinyl covered wood). 5200 laminated sides, deck and transom with all original wood. The boat is restored with some improvements over the original. Copperhead, a 1955 21 foot Chris Craft Capri, special ordered with the same 285 hp Hemi available in the 21 foot Cobra (confirmed by the build sheet and engineering data from Mariner’s Museum).
